On the road again

We set out with Zach and AJ and headed for Medellin, Columbia. We were anxious to get out of the intense heat of the coast and get into the mountains a little ways.

A couple hours down the road Trevors rear bearings completely went. When the bearings went it was a similar feeling as having your tire go flat.
We had just changed Kyle's rear bearings (fronts were fine) and changed Trevors fronts but neglected to check the rear. We had the parts with us.  Kyle and AJ headed a few miles back to a small village.  There they found a small mechanic shop.

 
They welded some rebar on the outer ring and pounded it out.  Back on the road for about $5.

We negotiated hard and got a room at this fancy hotel for $30 (for two people), down from $60. The pool was great.

We got caught in some traffic the next morning.

Then we finally started climbing into the mountains and amazing lush scenery.

 

Along the way we found all these hoses dumping water onto the road.  They were used to clean cars and trucks. The water naturally came from the hills.

We climbed higher and higher...

Finally reaching the incredible cityscape  of Medellin.  Countless highrises.  In Medellin and did some crazy lane splitting! Tons of fun.

We stayed the night in the Pit Stop Hostel.  Which as we found out was a party hostel.  We had a few drinks and played some pool and headed to bed around 11-12.   Several people kept entering the dorm room turning on all the lights throughout the night.  At 4:30 a girl came in with some bolt cutters, she had lost her lock keys! Great sleep!
