We headed off at a decent hour the next morning. Trevor feeling much better and ready to ride. About 40km out of Copacabana there is a ferry you need to catch in the little town of San Pedro de Tiquina. We were charged 20 bolivians for 2 people/bikes.
These wooden barges are constantly ferrying vehicles across the lake and are plentiful.
We reached La Paz and drove around until we found a hotel with parking which took a while as we definitely werent in the part of town tourists stay in.Next we hired a taxi to cross town to the parts/tire section. We were looking for 2 rear tires to finish the trip on. The cab ride was 100 bolivians both ways (about 20 min/way). When the cabbie saw us spending money on tires... he tried to convince us to pay him 100 more for the cab ride.
We managed to find a couple tires. A Pirelli MT 21 in 140/80 18 and a Brazilian brand 130/80 18. They should last the rest of the trip.
Off to Salar de Uyuni tomorrow.
