Found it! and some other fun!

Dec 30 Ancos to Huaraz, Peru 211km.

Packed up and headed back down to the town below us to gas up and ask for directions to Canon del Pato. We were told to go back down the mountains to Chuquicara... We decided to do it and it was definitely worth it!
The road back to Chuquicara follows the river, at 4 points there are sketchy bridges we had to cross.  Bridges that would rival one on the road of bones in Russia, just a little shorter.  The bridges have trestle like  boards running perpendicular with other boards creating two tire tracks for vehicles.  On a motorcycle you just pick one track and head across.  Its a bit nerve racking as you can see right through to the raging river below, not to mention there isn't really side railings.  Most of the boards were loose and uneven! We would cross each bridge then shake our heads afterwards.  The adrenaline was definitely flowing.

One of the 40 some tunnels in the Canon del Pato road

Some of these tunnels were around 100 meters or so and got extremely dark...

When you go through these tunnels the protocol is to honk your horn in case someone is coming the other way. A few times trucks came through the tunnel before us and with all the dust it was next to impossible to see anything.

While we were driving down in the morning we noticed a little box/cart dangling over the middle of the river hanging off of a cable. Couldn't resist and spent a couple hours messing around on two separate occasions. The second time ended up with us explaining to a man from the power company that we didn't understand the danger sign (Peruvian Energy Employees Only) and had no idea what it said... hahaha nice guy though. Shook hands and that was the end of that. Good times!

On the first smaller cart

It was definitely a good arm workout on the way back up! Great facial expressions going on!

On the second much higher cart.  It was high enough to be a little cautious of the loose thin floor in the cart...

We drove to Huaraz and spent the night in the Hatun Wasi Hostel.  We paid 60 soles for a room with a nice shower and hot water as well as secure bike parking and free breakfast (legit).  Highly recommend.

That evening we went out for supper, there was something on the menu we hadn't tried before (like usual).  It was called Rachi, the waitress described it as a stir fry.  Why not!
Turns out it was cow stomach!  So gross!  It was like eating skin...

Looking forward to exploring the Cordillera Blanca tomorrow.
