January 6, 2014 Aquas Calienties
We woke up around 5am to be in line for the first bus to MP (@5:30). We felt bad as we passed all those hiking up the mountain thinking they would be the first ones up. It was quite the climb.
There were a few people in line after us.
It was very foggy at 6am. We explored the Inca Bridges Trail.
It was very foggy at 6am. We explored the Inca Bridges Trail.
Its incrediable that they were able to make a trail on such steep ledges.
Neat stone work.
Not always made for tall people. Come on Incas.
The shot....
While wandering around we took in bits from those who had hired a tour guide.
Agua Calientes is a very expensive town. Prices similar to those at home in Canada. Here we bought a drink at a restaurant just so we could use there wifi. We then asked if we could eat our Lays chips... No problem.
While waiting for the train Trevor and Kyle got Inca massages. Not bad for $16!
We opted for the train ride out. Very fancy.
We then piled into a colectivo taxi van for the ride back to Santa Teresa. It cost 5 soles each ( $2).
We rode in a spirited manner back to Santa Maria (roads are always easier the second time). We then started our seach for gas. The first set of ancient pumps were out... but we were informed that there was gas 5 minutes down the road.
Creative... also out though.
Gas from a mystery bucket. Second time on this trip.
The epic road back down to the sacred valley. 1500meters in Santa Maria to 4,500 meters at the top. All the way up in 1hr.
